FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas of Los Angeles do you serve?

I’m based in Lincoln Heights in LA and do on-site work across the greater LA area — Westside, Eastside, the Valley, Pasadena, and South Bay. I’ll travel for larger projects; I’ve gone to Santa Barbara for the day to help a school enroll a batch of new iPads. For projects outside LA, I work remotely via phone, Zoom, and AnyDesk anywhere in the US.

Do you offer remote support, or only on-site?

Both. A lot of IT and privacy work doesn’t require me physically being there — software setup, account hardening, troubleshooting, configuration. For hardware repair, network installs, or anything physical, I come to you.

How quickly can you respond?

I typically respond within a few hours during business hours. If something’s urgent — a network down, a printer dead before a deadline — say so in the subject line and I’ll try to prioritize.

Do you work with both homes and businesses?

Yes. Most of my clients are individuals and small businesses. I don’t typically do enterprise contracts, helpdesk tickets, or anything that requires a chatbot.

How do you charge — hourly, flat rate, or contract?

I try to be fair and reasonable, especially as I’m building this business on my own. I generally bill hourly, since nearly everything I’m asked to do is a bit unique and it’s hard to factor in all the unknown unknowns. Current rates are $75/hr on-site, plus $50/hr for any drive-time over 15 minutes one way. Remote work is $50/hr.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — for anything beyond a quick question, I’ll scope the work and give you a clear time estimate before starting.

Is there a minimum job size?

No. I take on small tasks all the time — cable management, a printer that won’t connect, setting up a new laptop, a one-off WiFi fix. Not everything needs to be a project.

What’s your background?

25+ years working with computers, networks, and hardware, plus a background in electronics, fabrication, and animation production. I contracted at Google Maps, then left to work in animation. I’m not a fan of massive companies that are problematic to the world, so I went independent to pursue more interesting things. I have a long reviewed history on Taskrabbit and have worked for other services.
